Creating Custom Cargo Spaces

Add via Manual Entry

Open the form:

Click Add New Space Item in the expanded Spaces panel to open the Add form. (Opening a custom space with the pencil icon shows an Edit form.)

Choose type & complete fields:

Select Space Type. The form adapts to the type:

• Container:core dimensions + Max Load.
• Lorry / Semi-Trailer / Trailer:core dimensions + Max Load, plus axle cards. Use the + tile to add an axle; each axle card can be removed via the trash (delete) icon.

When saving a space, the system checks whether a space with the same Space Name already exists in the database. If a duplicate name is detected, a warning dialog appears asking whether the existing space should be overwritten. Selecting Proceed replaces the existing space definition with the newly entered values, while Cancel aborts the operation and keeps the current space unchanged.

This validation applies only to spaces created by the same user. Other users within the same team can create spaces with the same name without triggering the overwrite warning.

Save / Cancel behavior:

• Save validates and, if all rules pass, adds the space to the list immediately.
• Cancel simply closes the form without saving changes (both in Add and Edit).

Editing & Copying

• Default (system) spaces aren’t directly editable. Clicking the pencil opens a pre-filled Add form with the name prefixed by “Copy …”; saving creates a new custom space.

• Your custom spaces are fully editable. The form header shows Edit; Save updates the record, Cancel closes without changes.

Notes & Tips

• Create as many custom spaces as you need and name them freely.
• Keep SpaceType within the app’s supported set (Container, Lorry, Semi-Trailer, Trailer).
• Ensure your Excel values use the current app unit system; there’s no conversion during import.
