Backup Code Access & Recovery

Backup Codes Overview

After logging in for the first time, users are automatically directed to the Backup Codes screen as a required security step. Backup codes must be downloaded or copied, as they will be needed to verify the user’s identity and recover account access if necessary.

Backup codes are displayed only once and cannot be viewed again after leaving the page. For secure account recovery, users should store these one-time codes in a safe and accessible location.

When all backup codes have been used, the system automatically generates a new set. These new backup codes are shown immediately after the user’s next login, and must be securely saved before continuing to the application.

Recovery Using Backup Code

The Login With Backup Code screen enables users to securely access their accounts when they cannot use their primary two-factor authentication (2FA) method. By entering a previously generated single-use 10-digit backup code, users can initiate the account recovery process.

  • Update Email – Allows the user to replace the email address associated with their account using a verified backup code.
  • Reset Password – Enables the user to create a new password if they no longer have access to their existing one.
  • Both actions can be completed independently or performed together within the same recovery session using the same backup code.

The Continue to Application button allows users to exit the recovery flow at any time without applying any changes, ensuring full control over their account settings during the process.

When a new email address is entered and a verification code is requested, the system sends a one-time verification code to the newly provided email. A confirmation message is then displayed: “Verification code has been sent to your new email address.” Until the verification is completed, the user's existing email remains active and continues to function as the primary contact.
